Nina James takes her first bite of the real world

Yesterday my baby girl had her very first taste of something other than breast milk. We set her up in her Bumbo and we fed her some porridge for the first time ever. She was so excited, her little hands were going and she was reaching for the bowl, it was like she knew what was coming and she wasn’t going to miss out on any of it.

She absolutely loved it and surprisingly enough got more in her mouth than anywhere else, which just goes to show that the Greek gene in her is strong because she likes food a lot!

On the 29th of this month my Nina will be a whole 6 months old. People keep telling me that time goes by so quickly and that babies grow so fast and I’m witnessing it first hand, I cannot believe that half a year has nearly passed since I was pregnant with her. It’s nuts!

I was super proud of her yesterday when she slurped down her 2 teaspoons of porridge, if she was participating in an under 6- month old eating competition, I have no doubt in my mind that she would of smoked everyone at the table. Soon enough she’s going to start on steamed veggies etc I’m so excited to see how she’s going to react.

Do any of you have any tips for me regarding this stage of a baby’s life? Any foods that your baby liked or loved?

Well done Nina James! My little Sophie started solids at 4 months and was crazy about her porridge. We have since started on veggies and just recently chicken and fish. It’s been such fun whipping up yummy concoctions and seeing her enjoyment! Her favorite so far has been steamed butternut, sweet potato and apple – all blended up into creamy deliciousness. Another was mixed veg… Anything from broccoli to carrots and baby marrow… Loves it! I have recently started making mini cottage pies and lasagnes without the salt and spices… Give it a mash and this 7 month old goes gaga for the goodness! Enjoy experimenting…it’s such fun!

Beautiful Nina James! Enjoy every bit of diffrent food, flavours and texture.
I gave my little gorl lots of vegetables in the beginning and then much later on introduced fruit. Alot of people say if you give too much fruit they wont eat their vegetables. Today Abigail loves her vegetables. She always asks for gem squash and carrots, they her favourite. Enjoy the feeding stage 🙂

I think start with the saltier foods first like green beans, cauliflower etc. Then do the sweeter foods like apple, butternut, banana, carrot after. Did this with Noah and he still loves veg. Did banana first with Ben, then he struggled to get in to the not so yummy veggies. Still does! Also do one food at a time for a bit so you can spot if there’s an allergy and eliminate. With Noah I did one sweet, one salty, one sweet, one salty so he got used to variety. Have fun xx
